NOMINATIONS DUE BY APRIL 1, 2006. First come, first served does not apply to the nominations. Selections will be based on Region 2 priority (including CO Fire Depts) and will be made after April 1st. The selection process will take a minimum of 2 weeks. Confirmation letters will be sent in April to all those selected. Applicants not chosen will get a waiting list letter or email. AS OF APRIL 13, MANY CLASSES HAVE NOT BEEN FILLED. NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL CLASSES HAVE FILLED!
Registration fees include HOT breakfast, lunch and all course materials. 
Dinner arrangements to be made on your own. 
The Colorado Wildfire Academy has established the Paul Gleason Scholarship in Paul's memory. See award criteria and nomination information (due by March 15).
Our mission remains focused on providing quality training and firefighter safety! The Academy is structured as an Incident managed by a Type II Incident Management Team.

The Colorado Wildfire Academy brought over 1000 participants to Montrose in June of 2005. Over fifteen vendors attended the academy. The event was a great success for all that attended and for the host community - the Academy brought an estimated $500,000 economic impact to the communitiy of Montrose.
COSTS: Students Course registration
  • $55 per day. If registering after May 15th then $65 per day
  • 50 percent tuition credit is available for Colorado Fire Departments serving community less than 10,000 population.
Overhead Team Trainees registration
  • $25 per day

Cancellations without 30 days notice at Academy Coordinator's discretion
Sustitutions allowed.
Agencies are encouraged to reserve slots for seasonal employees. Fill out the nomination form provided. 
Names will be needed to reserve slots prior to Academy check-in.
The academy will be managed under ICS organization and conducted in a fire-camp type environment.
